Virtual Connection Creates Real-Life Friendship
Remote work is supposed to be the dream: no commute, no awkward office small talk, just you and your laptop against the world. Fast forward to hours of staring at your own face on Zoom and wondering if you’ve always been a mouth-breather (yes, I have). But for July Society’s virtual co-working crew, remote work turned into something better: a community of people who actually choose to spend time together (wild, right?). On Saturday, December 7th, we took those online vibes offline to All Seasons Brewing in Los Angeles, CA, and it did not disappoint.
A Picture-Perfect Celebration
July Society IRL Soirée 2024, Los Angeles, California.
The goal was simple: create an opportunity to get everyone together IRL to prove we’re not just Zoom squares with decent Wi-Fi. As it turns out, we’re also people with bottom halves! (And excellent taste in clothing.) People traveled near and far (far = South Korea!) to meet each other face-to-face. From the first hug to the last drink of the night, the party was a reminder that our “virtual coworkers” are way cooler than Douglas from accounting ever was.
From Pixels to Parties
When we launched July Society, our goal was to create an accessible space to make working remotely less monotonous. What we got was a group of people who show up for each other—whether it’s for an early morning community connection or a collective viewing (complete with unhinged Slack thread) of Jennifer Lopez’s latest fever dream. This party? It was like the ultimate unhinged thread, but with IRL LOLs.
You Can’t Choose Your Co-Workers...
...but you can choose the people you co-work with. That’s the magic of July Society. We’re not just stuck with each other because of a shared cubicle; we’re here because we actually like hanging out. Sure, we’ve spent hours on Zoom. But this time, there were drinks, hugs and no awkward lag.

The Chosen Co-Workers
Let’s face it: working remotely can feel like shouting into the void. But with July Society, the void shouts back—and offers genuinely good advice. At this party, we weren’t just coworkers; we were the people who get it. It’s less about work and more about finding your people. Turns out, we’re a pretty awesome bunch.
Looking Ahead
This party wasn’t just about celebrating what we’ve built; it was a reminder of why we built it. Sure, we’re here to co-work, but we’re also here to connect. And if this gathering was any indication, we’re crushing it at both.
Here’s to more shared successes, inside jokes, and parties where we’re not muted.
Cheers to July Society!
