Keeping Members Safe

At July Society, we believe in creating a virtual workspace where you can focus on getting things done while being authentically yourself. In order to protect both our members and staff, all members are required to abide by the following guidelines.

If you have questions about these policies please email hello@julysociety.com.

our community guidelines

  • Respectful and Inclusive Language

We firmly believe that language shapes our reality. We commit to using language that is respectful, accessible, and inclusive at all times.

  • commitment to growth and learning

We acknowledge that our community is not perfect and that mistakes will happen. We pledge to foster a culture of learning and growth by addressing mistakes constructively and without shame. We prioritize building trust in all our interactions.

  • curiosity and respect

We approach every interaction with curiosity and respect. We are mindful of how our words and actions impact others, prioritizing impact over intent.

  • Self Care

We prioritize self-care. We encourage members to eat, drink, stretch, and take care of their personal needs as necessary.

  • confidentiality

We honor and respect the privacy and confidentiality of our community. What is shared in our space stays in our space.

  • Equitable participation

We balance our participation to ensure everyone’s voice is heard. We encourage quieter members to step forward and share, and we ask more vocal members to make room for others.

  • personal accountability

We speak from our own experiences, using “I” statements, and we avoid making generalizations about others.

  • commitment to anti-racism

We are dedicated to dismantling racism in all its forms. Regardless of our racial or ethnic backgrounds, we commit to actively opposing anti-Black, anti-Asian, anti-Latinx, anti-Indigenous, anti-Semitic, and anti-MENA racism.

  • Promotion and solicitation

July Society encourages members to self-promote and do business with one another, and we provide avenues to showcase our work; therefore, we believe that direct solicitation between members is not necessary. We ask that members of the July Society refrain from direct solicitation to other members. Please note that Multi-level Marketing companies are not considered a legitimate business in the July Society space, and any attempts to recruit will lead to removal.

Focus Section Etiquette

Focus Sessions are just that - a time to focus on tasks that need doing. In order to maintain a focused environment free from distractions, we have the following parameters around how members engage with hosts and each other during sessions.

Need somebody to talk to? Just want to chill? Unlimited Members have access to our private Slack community, 24/7 peer sprints, and virtual Clubhouse for member led events.

Comment in Chat

If someone else is sharing and you have a comment, use the chat or raise your hand.

Share the Space

Be mindful of everyone having a chance to speak; give space for others to share.

Welcoming Environment

Avoid inside jokes, keep backgrounds professional, help newcomers understand July-specific terminology and acronyms, etc.

Add Pronouns

Pronouns are required. Ask a Community Manager if you need assistance.

Camera Off, Mic Muted

You’ll enter with this default setting; turn your camera on or leave it off, whatever you’re comfortable with. Stepping away? Best practice is to turn your camera off.

Raise Hand to Speak/Wait Until Called Upon

Wait for a Community Manager to call on you, then re-mute after sharing.

Keep It Productive

We endeavor to limit talk related to stressful situations, such as politics or natural disasters; Community manager will mute and redirect paid members to other spaces (Slack, Clubhouse) for conversation and support.

A statement from our ceo

In the U.S, recent executive orders from the office of the President, as referenced here, threaten to restrict or deny vital protections for transgender and non-binary individuals. We want to be clear: July Society will not abide by these harmful mandates. We stand firm in our commitment to being an inclusive community where everyone’s identity is honoured.
